Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) is a private evangelical Reformed theological seminary with campuses in Jackson MS, Orlando FL, Washington DC, Charlotte NC, Atlanta GA, Houston TX, and New York City. It is one of the largest and most academically serious Reformed seminaries in America, training pastors and scholars for service in Reformed and broader evangelical churches.
Reformed Theological Seminary was founded in 1966 in Jackson, Mississippi, at a time when many mainline seminaries were drifting from orthodox Reformed theology. Its founding purpose — to train ministers committed to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the historic Reformed faith — has been maintained across 60+ years of operation.
RTS faculty have included some of the most significant Reformed evangelical scholars of the past half-century. Reformed Theological Seminary's commitment to Scripture's inerrancy and authority, the Westminster Standards, and the Reformed understanding of the gospel is genuinely consistent and maintained across all its campuses.
RTS offers MDiv, MAR, MTS, DMin, and PhD programs through its various campuses. The Washington DC campus serves students interested in government and public policy from a Reformed perspective. The Orlando campus is the largest. The Charlotte campus has close connections to Reformed Presbyterian churches in the Southeast. The multi-campus model allows RTS to serve Reformed evangelical students across the country without requiring relocation to a single location.
For Reformed evangelical students considering seminary: RTS competes with Asbury Theological Seminary (Wesleyan), Dallas Theological Seminary (dispensational), and Moody Bible Institute for ministry training. Each serves a different theological tradition with excellence.
